What you don’t need to practice yoga…

I truly believe you don’t need to buy a thing to start your yoga practice. That’s why I provide mats. However, as your practice grows, it can be nice to create an environment that enhances your experience.

Here are a few things that I recommend:

Aromatherapy

The reason I tried yoga was because I had anxiety. It seemed to calm me and motivate me all at the same time. But I also tried aromatherapy.

Aromatherapy can offer us so much, it’s a wonderful way to transform your mood. I started off with a simple ceramic diffuser, and shortly moved onto an electric one.

Yoga Props

Yoga blocks are very useful for a practice. Blocks bring the earth up towards us, it means we can ease ourselves into stretches, and not to put strain on the body. They can aid us in the stretches, and should you wish, bring them to our class! Yoga straps can be used to deepen our stretches, using threading them around the foot, allowing you to lift and extend the leg and through the hip further.

Yoga Mat

Choosing a yoga mat is very personal. You want to love your mat, and look forward to your practice. The mats I supply in my classes are from Yoga Matters. My personal yoga mat is from Trouva, you can purchase them in lots of patterns.

Lighting

It’s all about the ambience! Soft lighting or natural lighting is a must, this is the light I use at the moment. You can pick from lots of different colours.

Eye Mask

A beautiful way to ease into Savasana is by keeping warm and cosy, you can also use an eye mask or eye pillow. Placing a little bit of pressure on the eyes can release tension.

Yoga Bolsters

Bolsters create a cushioning between the floor and the body, it can also support the body in more restorative postures, easing tension from the body.
